2010 MAYSVILLE FESTIVAL OF BOOKS
December 11, 2010
The sixth annual Maysville Festival of Books book fair will be December 11, 2009 from 10 am until 3pm.
The annual Book Fair is a fundraiser for the Museum Center's education programs. The historical research library contains over 19,000 archival documents, more than 18,000 photographs and postcards, nearly 5,000 research library books, computerized databases and Internet access, and reference materials and books devoted to genealogical research. The museum exhibits illustrate the history of this pioneer gateway to the west.
The event is being publicized throughout Kentucky and Ohio, drawing potential buyers and book lovers. Authors will be seated at tables, where they will meet the buyers introducing themselves and their book(s) to a large and varied audience. Some of the authors will also read excerpts from their books and be available to answer questions about their work.
Authors will offer a wide variety of adult, children, cookbooks, and poetry books.
2010 ART AND ANTIQUE AUCTION
March 5, 2010
2010 Auction Catalog
Bid Form
Like you, we are facing continuing strains on our operational budget. Utility costs are up and supplies are costing more. We know you are also feeling the effects of the present economy and can see our dilemma. The board and staff are always looking for ways that we can make our money go farther, and it has been decided the cost of printing our Antique Auction catalogue is one expense we need to curtail so that the auction is more profitable and provides the money needed to keep the doors open at the museum. Beginning this year our catalogue will only be found on line at our web site.
After February 21st, you will find it at www.kygmc.org. By putting the catalogue on line we will no longer have the expense of paper, ink, or stamps. This will cut the cost of the auction considerably and we hope you understand the need for a new direction.
Past auction donations have included: Pig Roast for 20 by Kelly Ashley; Dinner and music by Mary V. and Jim Clarke; Keeneland tickets; UK Football tickets; Framed Paul Sawyer print from M & M Framing; Laurel Oaks Golf Membership; Town & Country Pet Resort stay; W.F.T.M. Commercial Advertising Package; Private Golf Lesson from Deron Feldhaus; Tom Ross Photography.
Past art donations have included items by: Ken Swinson, Barbara Clarke, Kim Mckisson, Mayln Anderson, Donna Huber, Vicki Tichenor, Jim and Claudia Moose, and Steve White.
Following the pattern of previous auctions, items will include estate jewelry, sterling silver, coin silver pieces, crystal, figurines, Oriental rugs, prints, documents, furniture, stoneware, cut glass, and porcelain.
Craig Stanfield, auctioneer.
Please, come out and support the efforts of the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center and explore the beautiful items that will be made available for the 2010 Annual Art & Antique Auction March 5, 2010.
